The Korle Gonno Circuit of the Methodist Church Ghana was formally inaugurated on 3rd October, 1975, following approval at the 14th Annual Conference of the Church. What began as a single mother society, Mt. Zion, Korle Gonno, grew to include other societies.
The pioneering leadership of ๐๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฏ. ๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ฎ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ญ๐๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ข, the first Superintendent Minister, and ๐๐ซ๐จ. ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ก๐๐ง ๐๐ค๐ฎ, the first Circuit Steward, laid a firm foundation of discipline, evangelism, and expansion. Through their vision and sacrifice, Korle Gonno Circuit became a seedbed that nurtured new societies and even gave birth to independent circuits such as Abossey Okai and Mamprobi.
Over the decades, the Circuit established strong organizationsโWomenโs Fellowship, Menโs Fellowship, Methodist Guild, Girlsโ and Boysโ Brigades, Singing and Choir groupsโthat became anchors for discipleship and growth. Pioneers like ๐๐๐๐๐ฆ ๐๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ง๐ง๐๐ง and ๐๐๐๐๐ฆ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ก ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ dedicated themselves to mentoring the youth, ensuring that the next generation was rooted in Christ.
As the years unfolded, Korle Gonno Circuit did not only expand physically but also spiritually. It became known for producing leaders, nurturing vibrant societies, and contributing to the wider mission of the Accra Diocese. Its theme for the Jubilee, ๐:๐๐โ๐๐), captures this remarkable journey of faith.
Today, the Circuit comprises Mt. Zion, Bethesda, Bethel, Gbegbeyise, and Korle Gonno West. From humble beginnings, it has grown into a thriving family of believers committed to service, evangelism, and maturity in Christ. The legacy of its founders continues to inspire its members, who look forward with renewed strength to the next fifty years.
Indeed, the story of the Korle Gonno Circuit is one of faith, sacrifice, and Godโs faithfulness.
