BRO JOSEPH EDUAM ELECTED LAY CHAIRMAN OF ACCRA DIOCESE

Bro Joseph Eduam, a 53-year old Accountant with the
Bethel Methodist Church, Kokomlemle has been elected the next Lay Chairman of
the Accra Diocese.
He polled 131 votes out of a total 181 votes cast,
representing 72.4%, leaving sisters Deborah Benjamin-Addy and Henrietta Atta
Angmor with 30 and 20 votes representing 16% and 11% respectively.
The election which was supervised by an electoral
team from the Conference Office, led by the Methodist Bishop of Akyem Oda
Diocese, the Rt Rev Isaac Kwame Boateng, took place during the 61st Annual
Synod of the Diocese held on Friday, 29th April, 2022 at the Joseph Afotey
Aku-Boye Memorial Methodist Chapel, Teshie North.
Bro Eduam who holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil)
in Guidance and Counselling and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in
Finance has served The Methodist Church Ghana in various capacities at the
Connexional, Diocesan, Circuit and Society level. He has been a Lay Preacher
for twelve years and been a member of the Accra Diocesan Synod for nine years.
The Lay Chairman-elect has also served on various
committees of the Church including the Connexional Lay Movement Council as it
Treasurer, Accra Diocesan Internal Audit Advisory Team, Accra Diocesan Resource
Mobilization Sub-Committee and the Accra Diocesan Lay Movement Council as
Treasurer.
Speaking after the declaration of poll results, Bro
Eduam thanked members of the Synod for voting for him and pledged to serve
diligently.
The Lay Chairman supports the Diocesan Bishop in
advancing the work of God within a Methodist Diocese and chairs Synod and its
Committees in the absence of the Bishop.
Bro Eduam takes over as Lay Chairman on 1st
October, 2022 from the incumbent, Sis Agatha Nana Ama Ennin Osei whose 3-year
tenure of office ends on 30th September, 2022.
