Ashong, Accra
It was all joy for students of Wesley Grammar
School as the school organised a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols to
celebrate the yuletide.
The event came off at the school’s Assembly Hall on
Friday, December 17, 2021 with students, staff and various stakeholders in
attendance. The Wesley Grammar School Choir treated participants to melodious
Christmas carols.
In a brief Christmas Message, the Methodist Bishop
of Accra, who is also the Chairman of the School’s Board, the Rt Rev Emmanuel
Borlabi Bortey said “Christmas is a historical reality that someone came
miraculously into the world”, noting “Christmas is about Jesus Christ. God
chose Him as a ransom long before the world begun”.
He entreated participants to allow Jesus to come
and dwell in their hearts, explaining, “In Jesus, God descended into our world.
Christmas is about God’s gift to all humanity and if you accept this gift, you
come to know the joy of eternal life”.
The Chairman for the occasion who is also the
Director for Planning, Research and Growth of The Methodist Church Ghana, the
Very Rev Samuel Lomo Okine urged the students to “Seek Jesus and it shall be
well with you”, stressing, “Jesus was born that man may no more die”.
A keenly contested singing competition between the
various Houses within the school saw House 1 emerge winners with House 3
placing second. Houses 4 and 2 placed third and fourth respectively.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr Charles K. Baidoo
presented prizes to the competing Houses and congratulated the winners.
